This PPT lecture by   René Viénet , in   2017,   hosted by   Ricky Liu , displays the 50 earliest photos of Taiwan, in April 1871, by John Thomson,  and the thirty related woodcuts printed in France in year 1875.  Some Formosa faded albumen contact-prints are preserved at  Bibliothèque nationale de France  (in the collections of the  Société de géographie ).  All their original glass-negatives are preserved at   Wellcome Library   in London and have been scanned in high-resolution by Michael Gra
